桐朋学園大学、パリ・コンセルヴァトワール音楽院卒。
韓国国立響、KBS、東京交響楽団の主席コンサート・マスター歴任。
パリ室内管弦楽団、イスラエル室内管弦楽団、NHK交響楽団等と共演多数。
現在は韓国延世大学教授として後輩の指導に当たりながらクモ・アシアナ弦楽四重奏団のメンバーとして演奏活動を行っている。

Chung was born in Okayama, Japan in 1950 and began studying the violin at the age
of 5. He graduated from the Paris National Conservatory of Music and the Cycle de
Perfectionnement of Paris Conservatory with top prize by a unanimous vote, where
he studied violin under Michere Auclair and the chamber music under Jenevieve Joy
and Jean Hubeau with the top scholarship.
When he was 26, he began career of the first concert master of the Korea National
Symphony Orchestra (77-79), the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra (79-83) and the Korea Philharmony
Orchestra (83-86), and has performed as a soloist with the NHK Symphony, Tokyo Symphony,
Kyoto Symphony, Nagoya Philharmony, Sapporo Symphony, The Orchestra de Concerts Colonne
and Korean finest orchestras. He has performed by favorable criticism in the world's
major cities including LA, New York, Paris, Lyon, Wien, Salzburg, Tokyo; Hongkong
and Seoul.
Now, Chung stands unchallenged in the present classical music world of Japan and
Korea as a leading violinist with more than 60 concerts a year and has already recorded
on CDs the violin master pieces. Since 1988 Chung has been a professor at the College
of Music, Yonsei University. |
